Biological Mimetics, Inc. (“BMI”) was formed in 1996 to commercialize innovative biological products that will improve the quality of life and overall state of public health by combating resistant and emerging diseases in human and veterinary medicine.

Our mission is to utilize creative and innovative biotechnologies to discover and develop novel solutions for some of the world’s most difficult health problems.  In doing so, we have developed Immune Refocusing and related Technologies to design preventative and therapeutic products.

BMI is developing vaccines that stimulate broad cross-protective immunity against human and veterinary pathogens that are resistant to conventional vaccine technologies.  The new vaccines are designed to protect against viral, bacterial, and parasitic agents that exist as swarms of variants or that rapidly evolve into new antigenic forms.  Target pathogens for the new technologies include respiratory agents such as influenza and respiratory syncytia virus (RSV); HIV/AIDS; non-typeable hemophilus influenza; Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV); malaria, and others.

On December 1st 2010 BMI announced a research agreement with GlaxoSmithKline. The full press release can be found here.

On June 10th 2011, BMI announced a second research agreement with Crucell BV, a wholly owned vaccine subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson. The full press release can be found here.

Virus Developments

BMI is developing an AIDS vaccine and applying its Immune Dampening and Refocusing Technology to the outer HIV envelope glycoprotein gp120/gp41, which is the main mediator of viral fusion and entry with host receptors CD4 and chemokine receptors CCR5 and/or CXCR4.
